I'm Here!! I'm Here!!
It hurt to breathe, no exageration.
I waited about 5 days for it to get better but it didn't. I was not a happy camper.
I finally broke down & went to the doctor & she took a blood test & made me pee in a cup. After about an hour I was told I had a kidney infection of sorts or kidney stones.
Lovely.
After a few days on meds I started feeling better & slowly got back to doing things around the house.....like taking down the Christmas decorations!
Thankfully I can now say it's down, packed & stored away ready for next year!!
Now to clean the house!

What next Locusts??
This morning at 3AM, I wake to hear Gianna crying. I go to her only to find her in the bathroom covered in puke (sorry). I clean her up & her bed get her settled as I go downstairs to wash the sheets. A few minutes later it happened again. Then again. By now I had gone through her emergency security blanket so I went to toss it into the washer along with the other things.
Now my washer is one of those touch screen Maytag models. It has all these settings for various stains, so of course I set it for vomit (sorry). Only problem is the damn washer has a flaw in the mechanics. Once you select the settings you need to touch the "select this setting" box that shows up before you hit start. Well it was 4am now & I was exhausted & worried about Gianna & I missed that step. As soon as it happened I screamed, because my washer lid was locked & the whole machine froze. When this happens there is no override & you need a service tech to come fix it.
Of course this being Saturday, there was no service available but we were able to schedule a service call...for TUESDAY. So now I was behind on my laundry to begin with since the past few days being sick, laundry wasn't a priority, but NOW I have a washer filled with dirty sheets AND both my baby's security blankets. Luckily Joe was able to fanangle it open so I could pull out the stuff. I plan on bringing them to a laundry mat somewhere.
When Joe made the service appt. he told them this has happened before (yep but there was something "else" in there), he told them the part that was needed but they said the tech would have to come & troubleshoot it themselves. You know what that means? I'll be out of a washer for a few days if not weeks if they need to order the part! Thank God for warranties!!
The rest of the day we took it easy. Joe had to go to work. I set Gianna up on the couch all covered in towels just in case. Marissa was the healthiest of us all, so she was bouncing from room to room, playing her Nintendo, watching TV, playing on the computer. Eventually, due to the lack of sleep from the night before Gianna & I fell asleep cuddled together on the couch. Luckily she kept everything down & was a pretty good patient.
So now I'm feeling crazed, tired, overwhelmed, frustrated, and oh yeah still sort of sick....what else is going to happen????
Please don't answer that.

Feeling Crappy
We were expecting snow on Wed & I was hoping for a snow day. The school sent out a recorded message early in the afternoon saying schools would have a 2 hr. delay as it stood. I felt awful & was hoping for a snow day to rest but at the same time I was hoping for the 2 hr delay because I wanted to see a Dr. Yeah it was that bad! I never "want" to see a dr if I can help it.
The next morning around 7:30am we got the call--NO SCHOOL!! WOO HOO!!! Joe still went to work & the rest of us slept late. The girls took it sorta easy on me & let me rest on the couch while they bounced around playing Wii.
Today, I dropped the girls at schol & took off for the Dr. Feeling crappy the entire time. He checked me out & declared I had Strep Throat. Fantastic! He prescribed some medicine, I got it filled at the pharmacy & went home to sleep. My friend Samantha would pick Marissa up from school & Joe picked up Gianna later on. He brought the girls to McDonald's for dinner & I got to rest more in peace.
By the time they got home I was feeling better & my throat wasn't as raw. I actually feel so much better! I'm more annoyed with myself for being sick mostly because I have no time to be sick! Makes sense huh?
Besides, Friday is Kindergarten registration!! I have to sign Gianna up for Sept. Joe said he'd do it but I wanted to. It's important to me that I sign my baby up for kindergarten!

Just send me over the edge!
After picking up Marissa from school we head off to the Dr. He takes a look at her & checks the ears & lungs (all clear--YEAH!!), but declares her fine. The cold just needs to run it's course & should be over in the next few days. He doesn't prescribe anything & says she's not contagious & can go back to school. Ok.
------------------
Today I send her off to school. She's fine & happy to be at school. I head out to finish the Christmas shopping I have left. I got some done (some people are hard to shop for!!). Later on while waiting for Marissa to get out of school, I'm sitting in my car cursing myself for not having a snack since I feel the start of a headache, when my cell phone rings.
It's Gianna's school--Uh-oh!
The director tells me that Gianna was feeling blah & putting her head down on the table. They took her temperature & it's 102!! WHAT?!?! I tell her I'll be over as soon as I get Marissa.
Now the headache that was starting is full-on raging!! I feel horrible that my baby is burning up & needs me. My head is pounding. And I'm sorta pissed at the Dr. yesterday telling me she's fine! Arrrrrrrgggh!
What next?? I'm already frazzled with the Holidays. I feel so far behind this year & it doesn't help that Thanksgiving came late. It doesn't help that I started shopping later this year than normal. Is it horrible to wish Christmas was already over??
I just want to be a kid again somedays.....I think I want my Mommy!

Two Days Til Thanksgiving....
The piles of crap we accumulate in this house is amazing!
Really my "cleaning" didn't actually start until Monday. I procrastinate about cleaning. So that's why it's Tuesday & I'm still working on it, but I'm happy to say I'm done except for the powder room...unless you count upstairs!!
I'm not even counting that part of the house!!
There are about 4 baskets of laundry piled HIGH waiting to be put away. Crossing my fingers it'll get done but not gonna stress over it either.
Tomorrow I'll be making desserts. Yummy Apple Pies, Cheesecake, chocolate covered pretzels, possibly even mini caramel apples (if I can figure out if they'll keep overnight). The pretzels will look like this but I'll probably talk the girls into sorting the m&m's into fall colors (if I can't remember to just buy a bag of the autumn ones--not holding my breath!)

Hopefully on Thanksgiving I'll remember to take pics of the spread. Each year I forget to take pics of the food. I'm getting a little better, so maybe this year I'll get it right. This was last year's bird. The pic does not do it justice! I slathered it with butter & turkey rub & then bake it in Reynold's oven bags according to the directions & it comes out moist & juicy & ummmm ummmm good! Oh yeah & it cuts the cooking time too--love that extra sleep!!
Here's Joe carving the bad boy. Got a 20+ pounder this year. I was going for something like 17lbs but my only choices were 20 or 12lbs. It was free thanks to the promotion so what do I care? It'll get eaten.
Last year we changed tradition a bit. I've made Gingerbread houses with the girls for a couple of years now at some point during December, but last year I got the kit early & had the kids decorate/play in between dinner & dessert. They had so much FUN!! I've got to run out tomorrow & get a kit at Michael's.
Word of advice--Save yourself a headache & get the pre-assembled kit!!
Here are my sisters Marie & Chet & me messin around after trying to wrestle the kids for a group pic, which didn't go according to plan.
As for tomorrow....let the baking begin!

It's Friday....and a BIRTHDAY!!
**GASP**GASP**GASP**
Yesterday morning the girls were all dressed for school & for some reason tha I can not put my finger on they both looked so different! I took their pics (of course) before school knowing that I'd forget if I waited until they got home from school. I tried getting Marissa not to pose but she refused. So I got this but she still looks cute!
Then it was Gianna's turn & the stinker refused to cooperate whatsoever!! See what I mean??
Early last night I started feeling the beginning of a sore throat. CRAP! I was trying to ignore it hoping it would just go away.
Also, last night was Back-to-School night at Marissa's school. I loved going to meet her new teacher & seeing her classroom! When we walked in the whole class was "there" sitting at their desks.

I got to sign up to bake for each of their class parties which Marissa loves. I'm already looking forward to the Halloween treats I'll be making!By the time we got home I was ready for a cup of tea (which I only drink when I'm pregnant or sick---and I'm NOT pregnant!!) I made a big steaming mug of tea & went to work on that mini album. By the time I was done my throat was killing me & my head was starting to fill up. FANTASTIC. I took a Vitamin C & went to bed.
This morning I had a hard time getting up but since it's Fri I was able to drop Marissa off at school & come back home with Gianna. My plans were to take a nap on the couch & shower but Gianna has kept me busy. It's 10:45 & she's already played with Play-doh,
had her second breakfast & is now happily snacking on some chocolate. It's good to be her!
Today is my nephew (who is the son I'll never have) Tyler's 5th birthday! A milestone! It seems like yesterday that he made his much atticipated appearance.
Jump forward a few years & here he is on Halloween last year as he saved the day in his Superman costume.
This summer he continued to wow us with his "big guns" and today he's now offically 5!!
Happy 5th Birthday Tyler!!!

It's all PINK!
AARRRRGGGGGGHH!!!!!
I can't seem to catch a break this summer between the girls & me being sick in one way or another!
You know it's bad when I go to the Dr. right away! It started late Tues. night & by last night it was annoying me to no end! I thought I had scratched my eye or that I had something in there but the Dr. looks at it & declares pink eye right away. He asked me if I'd been near anyone with pink eye & I said no, not thinking about Gianna's slighty pink eye over the weekend. But I did mention how she had pneumonia & he said it's possible since it's viral too. Not sure if he was "yes-ing" me on that but whatever. I've never had it this bad & to top it off the Dr. says I have a really bad case of it! Fantastic!
Lucky me has to wear my glasses for a whole week (the frames bother my ear) & I can't wear make-up (not a problem). I have to make sure my hands are constantly clean especially when I'm near anyone. I'm trying to keep my distance from the girls & Joe just to make sure. The worst part?? I have to put eye drops in my eye 4 times a day!!
AAARRRGGGGGGHHH!!!!!
I hate eye drops or anything near my eyes. Go figure especially since I wear contacts all the time!!
The funny part?? Tonight after Joe put the drop in my eye I hear Gianna laughing at me!! Guess it's payback for all the times I've given her eye drops! Rotten kid! She's just lucky I love her!!

A Crappy Day
I told myself that I would, come hell or high water, get my butt on the treadmill today. So I threw on some clothes & we all went downstairs. The girls ate breakfast & I had my coffee while putzing around online. I always start checking out blogs thinking they will have been updated while I was asleep even though I check some of them before I go to bed. Bad I know.
I need a life!
By the time I'm done surfing it's time for round 2. The girls are back in the kitchen wanting more food. You know what I mean Laura!! (Sometimes I feel like our lives run paralell to each other--not to sound stalkerish!!) Today was non-stop with them constantly wanting to eat everytime I'd be finishing up in the kitchen.
It's a crazy cycle!!
I try to hang out in the kitchen while they eat because they'll likely be calling to me that they need something else so while I wait for their next "request", I surf online. Only then I get involved in surfing so then the time passes &.....WAIT! I just figured out where my days go!! Crap!!
Well long story short, I did it & went on the treadmill. I figured I'd start at 35 mins since the last time I started again I went too much too soon & got all sore then didn't go back because I needed to "recover" (not really).
So I had about 15 mins left when my sister Marie calls to tell me that my Mom was in a car accident & she was going to meet her at the hospital. She had no information other than that.
Crap.
She promised to keep me posted & would call me when she found something out. So I started back on the treadmill trying to block out all these bad thoughts. I managed to walk 1.30 miles before I got another phone call from my sister Chet telling me my mom hurt her shoulder & was in a lot of pain, they were taking her into x-ray. Not to sound unfeeling but that's a lot better than what could have been. At this point I gave up on the treadmill so I could call Marie back to fill her in.
After a few phone calls I went upstairs to shower & dress feeling relieved about my mom & good that I managed over a 20 min. mile. Yeah me! I even put away some laundry before Joe got on my case about going on the "Great Laundry Hunt" as he puts it!
Later in the afternoon, Gianna took a nap, which she's been doing this past week thanks to the pnemonia & woke up cranky & feverish. Lovely. (I can see another Dr's appt. in my future tomorrow.) She wanted to eat but only took a few spoonfuls of the pasta she despartely wanted a few mins before. Then Marissa was back in the kitchen wanting food & so the cycle began again! I told them that this was it & they were done until dinner. Which I think they could deal with since it was 4:30--believe me they don't starve.
However they drifted into the den & started fighting over the V-Smile game. They haven't played with it in awhile but of course, one is playing with it so the other one has to have it too!
This is about the time I flipped out.
I managed to get them to share the game & sat down to read my new Aug issue of CK magazine that I got in the mail. I start flipping through it & just a few pages in where they always have the MM ad I see a CUTE LO by my idol Laura! Cool.
Yeah I know I have such the exciting life!! What do you want I've got cabin fever--being stuck inside all week with 2 cranky sick kids!!
So to end the day Gianna's fever subsided a bit. Fantastic. She took her medicine without tossing it back up. Fantastic. And they're in bed & I have a small stack of pics to scrap!
But first I'm going to search for where my life went!

Can you say PINK?? And an update.
This is Marissa doing what seems like a new tradition everytime we go to Disney--trying on all the FUN hats! This is from our June 2007 trip. Someday I'll be done with this album!!

I also used the American Crafts Thicker Stickers for the title & some of those fun MM border strips as well as the crown. Now I've just got to finish the other LO that's almost finished on my desk & maybe I'll have another LO to post tomorrow.Monday, June 30, 2008
Playing "Ketch-up" Warning--LONG POST!!!
Wednesday afternoon while out running errands with the girls, Marissa started complaining about something in her eye. I took a look but didn't see anything, then forgot about it since she stopped talking about it.
Thursday morning she got up with her eye all red & irritated & of course she was complaining about it again. I look again but didn't see anything. She had a birthday party to go to & went happily even though her eye was bugging her. 10 mins before the party was over I got a phone call from the girls mom saying Marissa's eye was bothering her & she wanted to go home.
What kid wants to go home from her friends party unless she's miserable??
So I picked her up & told her we'd go to the doctor but she's terrified about eye drops (like her mom) & didn't want to go. I gave her an ice pack since her eye was swollen from her rubbing it, despite me telling her not to & took another look to see if I could find anything. SUCCESS!! I managed to pull out this thin little cotton-like "string" & she laid down on the couch with the ice pack. However, the poor thing kept complaining that her eye still hurt so I managed to convince her to go to the Dr. I made an appt. with the eye Dr. but when I told Joe about it he convinced me to take her to the pediatrician. As much as I disagreed I did, especially since they said they'd see her right away.
We get to the office & wait a 1/2 hour!! So much for right away!! The girls at this point started getting antsy -- of course but then they took us in.....where we waited some more!! When the Dr. came in he did manage to find something stuck to the inside of her eyelid but when he used a q-tip to get it out he POKED her eye & she started crying! Of course. I see him looking at his watch then he gives up & sends us to an actual eye Dr. I was LIVID!! I was mad at myself for not sticking with my gut instinct, mad at Joe for listening to him & pissed off at the Dr for poking her eye!!! We go home since our appt wasn't for awhile & Marissa falls asleep. I feel so bad for her. The eye Dr. gets the thing out of her eye 1 2 3, but see's her cornea is scratched so I need to put drops in her eye & he wants to see her tomorrow.
Now it's Friday, & we get to the eye Dr. on time for our appt. We ended up sitting there for 1/2 an hour before they bring us in the exam room. Then we wait ANOTHER 1/2 hour before the dr comes in takes a peek at her eye & declares her fine in less than 5 mins. Can you say PISSED OFF!?!?!! The girls were under my skin BIG time by now & the rest of the day didn't get any better.
I had to get goody bags made up for Gianna's party at the candy place with her friends from school, which normally wouldn't have taken me that long but the girls were on my "list". They made such a mess in the den & after requesting for them to clean it up several times I was DONE! Stick a fork in me! I put them both in the corner & got a garbage bag. I proceeded around the room throwing everything on the floor into the garbage bag. I ended up with 2 bags of crap!! The girls were upset-of course & I was pissed - of course. I wasn't actually throwing it out but they weren't getting it back right away either!
Saturday was Gianna's party. We had it at the same place Marissa had her party because Gianna wanted just what her sister had. The party was, for a bunch of 4 year olds, mellow. I thought for sure the kids would be bouncing off the walls but nope they weren't. Oh, they had fun but I was really expecting craziness. It was cool though & Gianna was happy. See?
Her decorating the huge chocolate pop. She was like Emeril--BAM!!

She was so happy!! Me too except I didn't get very many good pics. Oh well less for me to be backed up on to scrap!
The party was over by 1:30 so we went home she opened all her FUN presents & then it was time for round 2. We were having our friends John & Kathy over for dinner. We hadn't seen them in awhile & since they couldn't make it to the girls' party the previous weekend they wanted to see the girls.
Somewhere between 3pm & me prepping food for dinner, Marissa wrapped herself up in a blanket & vegged out on the couch not moving. This is NOT like her. However I didn't notice too much because I was busy. Later on when our friends came, I went over to her & she told me her head hurt. I laughed it off as a "Sugar Crash" from the party until I felt her forhead. She was on fire! I gave her some Tylenol & let her rest. Gianna was eating this up since she got all the attention to herself. Later on the Tylenol kicked in & Marissa was back to herself.
The rest of the night was nice & relaxing. I made a huge platter of Chicken Fajitas & got a little buzz from a bit too much wine. I wouldn't really call it a buzz but I felt no pain....and I got super sleepy. Hey I'm a cheap date!!
Sunday morning Marissa's fever was back....and guess what? Gianna had a fever too! They both like to do things together! Marissa originally had a friends birthday party to go to but obviously that was out. We spent the day at home dishing out Tylenol & just hanging around. I felt restless the whole day. Wanting to scrap but not exactly in the mood. Wanting to watch TV but couldn't get into anything. Just restless. However I did get a little mojo going & have another LO almost done.
Gianna had a bad night of sleep which means so did I. But I was determined to take both girls to the Dr. today since they were both feverish still. **SIGH**
Our appt. was for 2:40 & we got there 5 mins late. However we ended up waiting for an HOUR before we got brought into the exam room!! Luckily the girls were mellow & feverish so they weren't all antsy & under my skin. The Dr. checks them out & sure enough there throats were all red. She suspects Strep Throat & needs to give them a throat culture. They freak out & start crying bloody murder! I told them this is better than a shot so they calm down until after she swipes their throats. All hell broke loose for awhile but they managed to calm down. The culture came back negative so they needed a blood sample. Uh-oh. The girls FREAKED OUT AGAIN when they realized they were getting their fingers pricked. Just lovely. Those tests came back with some high numbers, especially for Gianna. The Dr. now wanted to check their urine AND get a chest x-ray. Lovely. The girls were not happy about getting pressed up to a cold x-ray plate since they were already complaining about being cold but Gianna was freaked out the most. She even declared herself "Not sick anymore". Poor baby.
We go back to the Dr's office & eventually we get the results--after being there for 2 hours. Marissa's x-ray came back clean but her urine test showed she's viral & contagious. Bad right? Gianna's x-ray showed she has Pnemonia!! I was shocked! It didn't actually hit me until I got in the car & started driving to the Pharmacy. I never imagined Pnemonia!! Luckily the Dr. prescribed some meds & it should clear up in about 10 days. I am drained from it all, but feeling better after some of the shock wore off. The girls collapsed, one on the couch the other on the floor & slept. My poor little babies!!
Since this turned out to be a LOT longer post than I intended I'll stop here. I promise I will post some LO's tomorrow!!

Target fix
Go to the Post Office
Go to the bank
Return some shirts to Kohl's
Buy Joe new sneakers
Go to several mall stores for returns
And my favorite part??
Go to Target!!
Don't let my list fool you they were mostly really quick stops...well except for Target!!
So thanks to Laura I realized I HAD to go to Target this week for an assortment of things but namely this. They re-vamped the scrapbook aisle after their mega super sale from the last time I was there & boy was I a kid in the candy store! I saw American Crafts ribbons, KI Memories, & best of all some new MM kits!! So I stocked up on a few different kits that I've been drooling over, because well basically Laura is an enabler & I will do pretty much anything she says!! LOL!!!!! Then I proceeded to the medicine aisle & picked up some of these....cause well we're all sick again!! Fun.

Yep, my head is congested as I type. The only thing I feel like doing is sleeping. Still have more to pack but don't think I'll get to it before I have to pick up Marissa from school. The plane ride should be super fun as we're all sniffling & coughing....bet you're hoping you're not sitting next to us on the plane!!

My Turn
After cake & presents I couldn't take it anymore & went upstairs. I laid down for awhile fighting off chills. I tried not thinking about it but it didn't work---I went into the bathroom & tossed my cookies. Then I felt better.
Spent all morning in bed--well to tell the truth I got up at almost 2pm! Thank goodness Joe was home today so I could rest. I can't believe this is the 2nd weekend in a row that someone here has been sick. Although I guess it could've been worse. Poor Gianna had the stomach virus the worst earlier this week. She was up throughout the night throwing up. That was a bad night so I guess I can't complain. I hope this is all over & I can post about other things again. My back is still hurting me & I feel like my head is all congested but I've kept my cookies down. I actually feel sort of human now. Oh & in case you're wondering I kept the bucket by my bed last night!

Back to the Bucket
We were having pasta with sauce & meatballs--a common occurance around here. She had requested hers plain without any sauce or butter. O-kay. She then sprinkled some cheese over it & ate--very-very-very slowly. When I told her it'd be time for bed if she didn't hurry up she jammed some pasta in her mouth & kicked it up a notch. All of a sudden she told me her belly hurt & she promptly threw up. CRAP.
We cleaned her up & put her to bed. Obviously she'll be home tomorrow. I'm probably gonna keep Gianna home only so I won't have to take Marissa out. I'm having some serious guilt issues right now because I sent her to school today. Joe says I shouldn't feel guilty because she was fine for a good 24 hours before this happened. I still wonder if I did the right thing. One good thing--
I put a bucket right by her bed.

Saturday Sickies
The toothless wonder of yesterday's fame woke me up at 5am telling me she threw up in bed. FANTASTIC. (said with great amounts of sarcasm) Her bed didn't suffer too bad since she made it to the bathroom sink. (Are you grossed out yet?) By this time I'm more awake & clean things & her up. I put her back in bed & she says
"Why didn't you leave a bucket in my room so I could throw up in there?"
Wait--WHAT?? So I said...
"Well Mommy forgot to check the calendar to see that this was the night you were supposed to throw up."
No not really.
I explained that I had no idea this woud happen & can't predict the future. Especially since she seemed fine going to bed. Then the lightbulb goes on over her head **ding** & she says
"Oh ok".
Joe was up already & when I caught him up with all the exciting facts he says he feels a little queasy too.
I'm hoping/praying that this is NOT a virus--I can not stand those things. Remember we had pizza delivered? Well we also ordered spaghetti & only Joe & Marissa ate it. So I'm kinda sorta hoping/praying that it was the spaghetti & not a virus. I can not stand those things--did ya notice that? Here she is all bundled up over our towel protected couch --with her bucket-- watching SpongeBob. She's got 2 whole crackers in her belly & has kept them down for about an hour. It's great to be her.

We're not getting there....
Monday night I called my mom to say hi & she tells me she's got a cold. We chat for a little bit, she asks me when I bring the girls to see her, blah, blah, blah. The minute I hung up the phone I started feeling my head fill up & my throat starts bothering me! Weird coincidence huh? I could blame her for getting me sick but I have to blame Marissa. She's the one. She did it!! I call her Typhoid Marissa!
I'm upset about this because I planned on visiting my girlfriend Patrizia's new baby on Wed. I have to cancel now because I couldn't chance getting that tiny little baby sick too. I have to stress how upset I am because I was really looking forward to holding a little baby again!!
I have felt like crap all day today but had too much to do to rest. I finally got my hair cut which I've needed since Thanksgiving. Gianna starts her dance class tomorrow at school so I needed to pick her up a leotard & tights at Kohl's. They were having all sorts of great sales which I would have loved to browse through but my head was pounding. I had to pick up Gianna from school early today because Marissa had a Brownies meeting today & the moms needed to stay so I couldn't drop her off there to go & pick Gianna up in time. Of all days I just want to do nothing & sleep I just can't!
So after Joe gets home & we have dinner this is my plan...
- give the girls a bath
- putting the girls to bed
- putting myself to bed
Let's just hope I don't crawl in bed next to the girls.....
