First Treatment

Joe had his first treatment at the Dr today.  He came home afterward in so much pain that it was hard to watch.  He had to get cortisone shots IN his ear and it was excruciating!  After about an hour of the pain he felt back to normal, which is when I took this picture.  He is such a trooper.

Unfortunately he found out that he has to do it again a few more times in the hopes that it stimulates his hearing.  If going through all this works then it's all worth it.  I'm praying it does.

Silence

Thursday, Joe was complaining that he was dizzy and slightly nauseous. My response is always "go to the Dr." I sometimes get lightheaded if I don't eat well or if I'm getting sick so I thought that was happening to him. Friday he complained more about it but and said his left ear felt hot. It was red but I didn't know what it could be. We both thought ear infection. Who knows.

Saturday, he was running errands and noticed as he took a phone call that the sound was off. Like in he couldn't hear anything. He switched ears and it was fine. It finally dawned on him that he couldn't hear anything from his left ear. At all.

Of course, it's the weekend. He went to the clinic on Sunday to get checked out but the Dr didn't say much and told him to see an ENT.

Yesterday, he went to the ENT that took care of him in May for his nasal problem. They gave him a hearing test, which showed he was completely deaf in his left ear. They gave him prescriptions and scheduled a few procedures, one being an MRI to make sure it wasn't a tumor. Supposedly, it's not a cancerous sort of tumor but regardless there wouldn't be anything they could do. He might be permanently deaf in that ear.

He is worried to say the least. I'm trying to stay calm for him, (I was freaked out worse when he told me tumor but didn't explain it's not a cancerous type-found that part out later) but I'm just upset that he keeps having health issues lately. He works too hard and is such a good person and just doesn't deserve this.

Re-Organizing The Scrap Room

Seems like organizing is one of my favorite things to do besides scrapping. Put them together and I'm a happy girl.

While going through a drawer looking for something, I realized I had embellies all over the place.  This just didn't make sense to me and I started moving, merging and purging things.  This was driving me crazy since once I had it started, I HAD to get it done.

These boxes had embellies, from the metal kinds to stickers...don't even start on the amount of embellies in the drawers!!  I decided to be ruthless and purged a lot of things that I'm too ashamed to admit I still had in my possession.

Of course, I ran out of time and storage boxes.  I **needed** to go to Ikea.

Piper's Half Birthday

Today is officially Piper's half birthday!

She's only been with us since November but she's much loved.

Valentines Day 2014

Valentine's Day started out with me digging out my "Lovey-est" mug (it's a word!).  Coffee speaks my love language.

Joe doesn't forget his girls.

We even treated the puppies to peanut butter.  To say they loved it is putting it mildly.

We don't go out to dinner, but that's purely my decision.  I hate to be rushed through dinner.  I'd rather just go out on Joe's Birthday and that's it.  No matter where it's spent, it was a day of love. (Total mush, I know!)

Storm Number ???

The amount of snow we've this year is just nuts. I can not stress enough how over it I am already. We haven't had a winter like this in a long time, and at this point, if I never saw snow again, I would be a happy girl.

I made "snow day" fajitas to try and forget the piles of cold snow outside.

Just wish I had a corona to go with it.

Joe's Birthday 2014

When your day starts out with cake at work, you know it's going to be ok.  Joe's guys brought in his favorite, tiramisu.

After a nice Italian dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, we came home to give Joe his presents. Of course, no birthday is complete without pics with his girls.

Love this man, so very much! He means the world to me. Wishing him the best and happiest of birthdays!

Scrappy Time

Just had to order a new tab punch today.  You shouldn't have to stand on your tippy toes and press down with all your strength for tabs.  It's served me well all these years, but it was time to move on.  It's not me, it's you.

In other scrappy news, I saw this idea on Becky Higgins' Instagram account to trim down the monthly Project Life dividers as transparencies.  I remembered I had an old Cherry Edition set so I went for it.  Of course I forgot to take an after shot but they came out cute, and will see the inside of an album instead of the back of a cabinet!

Joe's Birthday Dinner

We got together with family to celebrate Joe's birthday today.  His birthday isn't until the 12th but that just means more cake in our future.

I made dinner for everyone.  Nothing fancy.  I wanted to make homemade pizza but was nervous about making it for a crowd of people in case it didn't rise.  So I also made garlic and oil pasta, as a back up.  Luckily, the pizza came out amazing!

Of course the night can't end without CAKE!  Joe was surrounded by his girls.  All five of them--puppies count too!!

Puppy Randomness

The puppies have taken over the house.  Though sometimes their space gets invaded as well.  Marissa loves to crawl in their space with them since it's a nice warm spot!  Piper could care less, as long as you pet her.  Riley however, was not amused.

Riley has taken over this couch in my scraproom, and was not about to let the basket of clothes stand in her way of a comfy place to nap.  Of course, after taking this shot, I took the basket away so she could stretch out.

Riley and Piper are truly BFF's.  Even in their sleep they hold paws!  So adorable!

Gianna requested to watch Hercules with me in the scrap room.  Riley was not impressed.

They took over the couch in my scraproom.  My house is going to the dogs!!

Script Is In

Everybody seems infatuated with the Studio Calico Script class and since I never seem to finish a class I sign up for, I didn't. Can't lie though, I was intrigued.

On a recent Michael's trip, I bought a simple pointed paint brush, that's it. I know it's not the class recommended brush but I'm ok with that. Decided to also put my mister Huey's to good use (finally) too.

I had just finished another week of project life (catching up!!) and cleared a space on my table.

The first few were iffy, but I kept playing.

Things got serious after taking this picture, and I brought up my playlist for more things to write.  You could say I am heavily influenced by P!nk's music. Love her!!

Mixed it up a little with some red too.

Marissa seemed interested by what I was doing, so I let her have some fun too.

She even let me keep the cards for Project Life! She did great!  Can't wait to use them!

Today I hit my 5,000th tweet on Twitter. I guess I have a lot to say.

Maybe it's from all the Instagram shots I share through my account too.  I've come back around to Twitter since I lost my love for Facebook.  I feel stalked on FB, so if I feel the need to vent I can just tweet it out and get it off my chest.  All I know is, I have a social media addiction!

Enough With The Snow

Mother Nature is being mean this year with all the snow she's been dumping on us.

We got hit hard overnight and the kids had no school. They didn't complain about staying home. Neither did I.  I'd rather have them home instead of a delayed opening or half day and having to go out in it.

My only complaint was for the poor puppies that had to go outside. I guess it's not too bad since they have so much fun in it. We make sure to towel them off when they come inside to warm them up.   Poor Riley gets it the worst.

Me? I just miss my flip flops.

Super Bowl 2014

This year the Super Bowl was held at Giants Stadium (which is what I'll always call it, no matter what they change it to.), which by-the-way, is in NEW JERSEY, not NY. (just clarifying)

We basically are Giants fan so we were disappointed that they did so bad this year.  How amazing would it have been if they went to the Super Bowl in their home stadium??? But no. They blew it.

Most of us were backing the Broncos, going with Peyton Manning. It would've been cool if they won at the Giants home stadium since the Giants won at theirs. You know, the whole brother thing. Logical, right??

Joe went to a friends to watch the game while the girls and I stayed home and watched. Marissa and I were tormented every time the Seahawks scored by Gianna who cheered like a crazy maniac. It was a terrible game. The best part weren't even the commercials, it was Bruno Mars' half time show!! I've always liked his music but man can he put on a show!!

I managed the pain of watching the game with my awesome chili for dinner. Ate away the pain of a pitiful game, highlight of my night. Sad, just like the game.

Saturday, February 1, 2014

Hello February!

We aren't sports obsessed around here, but we do love watching the Super Bowl.  Gianna is rooting for the Seahawks even though Joe, Marissa and I are all hoping for the Bronco's to win.  Gianna thought it would be funny to have Riley wear her Giants jersey with some modification.

Riley was not amused.

In honor of the Super Bowl, I decided to break out the crock pot and make my first chili.  I found an easy recipe on Pinterest and for my first time, it came out pretty good!  There are some things I'd do a little different, but I'll just keep trying out recipes until I find "the one".

Needless to say, there was plenty of it and I'll be enjoying it all weekend.
