Red & Green Spritz Cookies


SPRITZ COOKIES YIELD: 84 Cookies Approx

1 ½ cups margarine
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. almond extract (optional)

In large mixing bowl beat the margarine with an electric mixture on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or till softened. Add 1 CUP of the flour. Then add the sugar, egg, baking powder, vanilla, and if desired almond extract. Beat till thoroughly combined. (IF YOU'RE ADDING FOOD COLORING THIS IS THE TIME TO DO IT) Beat in the remaining flour. DO NOT CHILL DOUGH.

Pack the dough into a cookie press. Force dough through press onto ungreased cookie sheets. If desired, decorate with colored sugars, candies, fruit, nuts, etc.

Bake in a 375 oven for 8-10 minutes or till edges of cookies are firm but not brown. Remove cookies are firm but not brown. Remove cookies and cool on wire racks.
