Vacation Memories Thru Instagram Mini-Album

On our trip to Florida in August 2011, I shared A LOT of our trip through Instagram.  I had a lot of pics that weren't "just Disney".  They showed all the fun stuff we did and it wasn't just characters from the park. I printed them all out and had an idea in mind to make an Instagram mini-album, using my captions from Instagram as my journaling (maybe slightly modified).  Of course, life got in the way and the album got pushed aside.

I had just finished catching up on my Project Life album, when I came across the pics and the album I set aside  for it & decided to go for it.  I was inspired to get it done.  I soon realized, that I was getting the pages done quicker than I thought, which inspired me even more to finish it.

While the cover shows that it's mostly Disney World, we also snuck out to Sea World for the first time & those pics are included in this album, that's why I added the wave.... ; )

The best part was how thin I managed to keep the album! I've never made an album SO thin!  I stuck to a lot of stamping, Silhouette Cameo cuts, punches, labels & washi tape (of course!) to keep the bulk to a minimum, but was still surprised at how thin it was!

I had no plan for the album.  I just tried to keep all the similar pics together on a page.  At first I thought about just slapping the pics in "Smashbook" style.  While there's nothing wrong with that, that's not my style and you can see how the first few pages are much different from the rest of the album.

I eventually noticed that I slowly happened to design the pages in a more grid design.

I took a TON of pics at Sea World but didn't Instagram then all.

On this page I "cheated" a little.  I snuck in a few shots weren't on Instagram, but just went with it.  Don't tell anyone. ; ) HA!

The last page is very simple & plain but I like it.  The only thing I left out of the album was the date.  I realized it after taking the pics, so I'll just go back & add it late.  No big.

The album shows that while you're at "Disney World", there's SO much more to see & do than what most people expect.

Vacation Albums (Non-Disney)

OK here they are!! The non-Disney Vacation albums!! Ta-da!!

I stuck to the same American Crafts albums as the other albums so they'd match. I have a thing about matching. Don't judge me!

I used some pink binder clips I had picked up somewhere (maybe Michael's bargain bins?) And yes I realize the numbers are crooked...don't ask me how I missed that when I was rubbing the numbers on. Again don't judge me!Found this Making Memories die-cut....Got these Creative Imaginations papers at Michael's & thought it would work perfectly for these albums. They are double sided too. Cute!! (You can see the other side in the next pic) For the title I used the Cricut Printing 101 cartridge. This was our very 1st trip together & I was SO excited about it!! Used a couple of postcards in there too since I didn't take any of our hotel. This was before my scrapping/taking pics obsession grew. Used a regular page protector for the Siegfried & Roy show program. Used the Cricut Alphalicious cartridge for the Bahamas title.Added our Honeymoon pics to this album since in theory it's a vacation too. Same Cricut cartridge for the Hawaii title. Sorry some of the pics are blurry...too lazy to re-take them after I realized it. Don't judge me!!

Used a "road trip" themed paper also from Creative Imaginations. Used the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the title (same for Hershey).
Used the scraps I had left over from the 8x8 album I did. Sorta wishing I hadn't done the smaller album now that I plan on doing all the vacations like this but it's done.
Got to use some really old paper I've been hanging onto for this!

All together in the non-Disney albums I managed to fit 3 trips to Vegas (didn't bother showing all the pics), 1 trip to Bahamas, 1 to Hawaii & 2 road trips. See?? We do know there's more places to visit than Disney!!! ;) Don't judge me!! LOL!

Summer Project

I didn't start the summer with the intention of doing this project. Especially since I only heard about it in June on Laura's blog!

I'm talking about the Vacation Albums.

Yes that's plural. As in 5 albums so far. Not sure how many to go before I'm caught up.

4 of those 5 albums are just Disney. Shocking right?

Thursday night I was done with the journaling cards for album 2 when I realized I'd need more year tags. So I decided to pull together all our "non-Disney" trips out so I knew how many tags to make. Makes sense right?

I am now done with the "Non-Disney" album as well. Only I didn't journal it. Eventually I will but I'd like to get back to some regular scrapping eventually.

Baby steps.....

Vacation Albums

Awhile back on Laura's blog she had the awesome idea to put together a "Vacation Album". It made me think about all our Disney trips that I haven't scrapped & at the rate I'm going I'll never get to.

So after thinking about it I decided to take all our Disney trips & put them in pocket pages in American Crafts Linen albums grouped by trip.

I got to use a lot of my old stash that I've been hording & at this point couldn't possibly use it all without things looking the same.

Title pageUsed 1st pocket to "date" the trip. I took older papers I had & trimmed them down to 4x6 to use as "filler" pages & use for some simple journaling.I'd also make a simple title "page" to show which park we were at.For some of our pics we bought at the park I included with various sized page protectors. This was 8x8 & I just backed it with some patterned paper I had stashed.Used some American Crafts "mumbo jumbo" alpha stickers as a simple title page on the back...Since we went twice in 1996 I made another title page using different paper I had bought at Disney that I never knew how to use....This was the trip that Joe asked me to marry him...This tells the story of how he proposed.....8x10 pic from the park....my hair was pretty high looking at this now.....That's Joe & I in the last row....I'm screaming the whole way down.....Some pics were processed 3 1/2x5 so I just backed it with some patterned papers...think I'll keep it to black cardstock in the future....That 1st album holds 5 trips to Disney. I'm happy with this set-up & like having them all together. If I feel there's a pic that "needs" to be scrapped then I will but I won't be doing anymore "dedicated" scrapped Disney albums....I still have to finish our 2007 trip!!

So now I'm up to 3 albums & can easily fill more!!
I will eventually do this for our other trips when I'm caught up with these. The 2nd 2 albums still need the journaling on various insert cards but I figure I can easily do those over time. So once again I have Laura to thank for this fantastic idea!!
THANK YOU LAURA!!!
I feel the pressure off my shoulders!!
