Snowy Puppy Weekend

"Love" in the snow.

Celebrated my sister Connie's birthday this weekend. She's getting old like me.

These two take every opportunity to climb all over me the minute I sit down.

The snow hit us fast and hard. Feels like it's going to be a cold, snowy winter.

Lots of time spent outside but not for playing. The dogs have us outside a lot more than ever!

The girls made salt dough ornaments. Let them use their imaginations to their hearts content. The worst was drying them--took forever!!

We had an extra visitor come stay with us this weekend. Annie is the puppy in the middle, she's Riley and Piper's half sister. She is the shyest puppy! She took to Gianna on one of our visits to the breeder, and we were told we could "borrow" her if we wanted. How could we pass that up?? Since she's been with us, she's come out of her shell a bit and isn't so scared.

That's been our weekend. Lots of fun, lots of busy. Normal weekend in December around here....

The Blizzard AFTER Christmas

So it wasn't a white Christmas around here. It snowed AFTER Christmas....and I'm ok with that.

We didn't have to go anywhere.

No one was coming over.

We could just stay put!

It was great! We stayed in our PJ's & played with our new toys, watched movies & ate leftovers, while the wind blowed terribly & the snow came down. These were taken from the inside of the front door....I wasn't stepping foot out there! This is the other front door that leads into our kitchen...I just opened the door & snapped a pic. Looks so pretty!

This morning Joe, of course, sets out to go to work so he shovels his half of the driveway, knowing I wasn't leaving the house. However he realized after shoveling that it just wasn't worth going out there & possibly getting into an accident. So he called his guys & told everyone to stay home--YAY!! I've told him time & time again that he NEEDS a snowblower but he's got nowhere to store it & just sucks it up. Later on our next door neighbor came over with his snowblower & did the other half of the driveway.....thank you cookies were sent over!

You can't even see the pathway to our front door! The backyard doesn't look as bad...but if you look close the middle swing is buried under snow. This wasn't shoveled at all. It was the wind!! It made these crazy snowdrifts.

So it's a good day to stay in & play. Love it when we're snowed in & everyone's home!

Stay warm!

Sledding

Last night we had some snow come down & Joe had the idea to take the girls out sledding for the 1st time! Before coming home from work last night he went to 3 different stores on the hunt for sleds. Obviously everyone had the same idea & the pickings were slim.

We didn't tell the girls where we were going until today. The girls were surprised when we told them where we were headed & they had so much FUN!

Here are the troops heading off for the hill. Gianna needed a push from Daddy. Apparently we weren't on much of a incline & she didn't get too far.
When we went on the higher incline they had more oomph & it was more fun. Marissa was flying down ('specially since she's so darn thin!!). She kept turning herself backward, by accident the 1st time, but then she had more fun that way.
Gianna seemed to have a healthy bit of fear with the steeper incline & wanted Daddy with her. Not sure if they were trying to race in this shot or what.

After some more sledding, Gianna had had enough & wanted to have a "snowball fight" with Joe. He of course went & did her bidding. I stayed & watched Marissa some more & the look of joy on her face was priceless!
Eventually Marissa felt the need to toss a few snowballs too. We hung around tossing snowballs back & forth for a while. It was pretty funny watching them too. At first Joe was packing snowballs & piling them up but Gianna would just as quickly take his & throw them at HIM! He of course kept making her snowballs to throw--sucker! The snow was pretty icy & underneath it was ALL ice so walking was hard. Gianna would pick up pieces of the ice & toss them despite being told that it wasn't safe.

She's lucky she's cute!
Marissa decided the snow stuck to her gloves was tasty & kept eating it. I was having an anxiety attack at that!! Trying to explain that she couldn't tell if the snow was really clean....

We were out there for about an hour. Now that the girls have been introduced to sledding I'm sure I'll be tortured again sometime this winter. Standing outside in this weather is for snowmen!! How much longer until Spring??
