Wow 3 Whole Years!

3 years ago today I started this blog of mine.....yep it's my Blog-O-Versary!!!

I know this year I have been the most sporadic blogger, but I'm amazed that I've been blogging this long. I've thought about giving it up this year but then I realized how much I still liked it. There are days when the only thing keeping me from blogging is the laziness in taking pics of the things I want to blog about. Yeah I just don't like blogging without some sort of pic. And yeah I just admitted how lazy I can be....shhhhh don't tell Joe, I'll just deny it!! ;)

I feel like I should do something to honor 3 years of blogging...but who am I kidding? I've got vacation (with a few adult beverages) on my mind. Let's just say I really appreciate everyone who stops & reads my ramblings.

Thank you all!

No, This Is Not My Newest Hobby

So I've been making more jewelry. I have a few more ideas but once I'm done with those I'll be putting this hobby to rest.

I swear on the internet.

I'm not saying I'm in love with making jewelry but I'm not saying I hate it. I just wanted to try a few things & I have. That's not saying I'll never feel like making another piece but I'm not into it as much as other people.

And I just want to say that when the MM Vintage Groove line first came out I wasn't into it at all. I had no idea where to 1st start & didn't think I'd ever try making any of it. But then as I saw various pieces online I wanted to try (like I don't have enough on my plate). And when I got the opportuny to get some I did.

That's clear as mud, isn't it??

With that these are the pieces I made....

This one I wasn't crazy about because of the thin chain but after wearing it I just loved it. Very simple (which is more "ME"). And I like that it goes with almost anything I'm wearing.

When I wear it the small leaf hangs over the brown leaf.I was wearing this one to get a feel for it & my sister told me she wasn't liking it much (not in those words). I'm not 100% crazy about it either, but it's ok. I think we both are more symmertrical type of people & tend to like things evenly spaced/equal on both sides. It's not like I can't take it apart & make something else.

This isn't what I'd usually make but I was trying to expand my horizons (& use up some pieces).
It's not my favorite either but It was fun to do. I have a feeling the last 2 pieces will be re-made. And who knows maybe the next time I share, I'll even iron the black fabric I lay them on so it'll look pretty & not all wrinkly!! ;) LOL!!

All About Ariel

Here's my take on Marissa's obsession when she was 5. I made this a little different from Gianna's (which was a lift of Laura's) since I had less pics & needed to use up more space. I think I like it better with the green border.....but don't tell Gianna that! ;)

I look back at these pics & can't believe how tiny Marissa was. At the time I thought she looked so big. Now she's not as into Princesses as much unless we're at Disney. It's apparently not cool to be into Princesses at school. :(

The last princess she was really into was Jasmine. I think it had something to do with her hair being as long as Jasmine's. She was Jasmine for Halloween a couple of years ago & didn't need a wig. She loved it!

Cinderella Obsessed

Back when the girls were younger, I had this idea to take pics of their collections. To be more specific their princess collections.

Gianna, from the time she was a baby, was all about Cinderella. I may have to take some blame for that since I dressed her as Cinderella for her 1st Halloween & it stuck. I'm sure when I took these pics I had plans for a LO but now that I came across them I don't remember what those plans were. I remembered a LO of Laura's (sorry couldn't find the link to the project) that she had done & went with it.

The girls now have different favorite princesses & that's ok but these were their first & that's why they had so much stuff!! Since then we've toned down the "collections" a bit. They still love Princesses (Gianna more than Marissa at the moment) & there will come a day when they won't be into them at all, so I'm enjoying it while it last! And in case you're wondering, there will be a LO with Marissa's favorite....stay tuned! ;)
And BTW: Today is 8-9-10....do anything special?? I got to watch my neice & nephew. They surprised my girls this morning & had fun together hanging out all day.

Jewelry Makes a Woman HAPPY!

I found these pieces at Michael's the other day & knew I'd be making more necklaces. The owls HAD to come home with me! ;) And since I was reading a book involving fairies the other piece went into my basket.
I made sure to find a chain that matched. While it was easy, I was disapointed that you had to buy the clasp seperately from the chain. Unlike the Vintage Groove pieces (that I know of anyway). But it's still pretty AND pink!
The owls.....like I said I tried getting a necklace while I was there to match it but didn't find much that I liked. I did find this leather cord at AC Moore though & think it looks nice.Found this blue ribbon at AC Moore as well & it really plays off the owl's eyes.

The 3rd owl went on a simple chain & I gave it to Marissa. She loved it & thanked me several times. I think she might've been looking to snag the other 2 owl pieces but for now they're mine! She's just lucky I share. ;)

Got My {Vintage} Groove On!

When MM first came out with Vintage Groove I was "eh" about it. I mean some of the pieces were nice but I'm NOT a jewelry maker. I kept resisting.....until I started seeing some great necklaces made.

Go ahead, just say it & get it over with.....SUCKER! There feel better now?? ;)

Yes I'm easily enabled. (AKA: a sucker!)

It didn't help matters that Crop Chocolate started selling some pieces. Who am I to argue with a good deal?? Then I happened to go to AC Moore (which is slightly out of my way) & picked up some pieces there. Once I got it all home, I set it aside.

That's right.
I left it alone for weeks.
Didn't have any mojo.

Every once in awhile I'd pull it all out & contemplate making something. Then I'd put it away again. I'm nothing if not a procrastinator!

Well last weekend I noticed a post on Facebook from MM Jewelry & got all inspired looking through their pics. I had been working on some paperwork for Joe but I cleared off a corner of my desk & got to it. Never mind that it was late & I should've been going to bed (like I told Joe when he asked if I'd be up late & I said I'd be right up.).

In the end I made 4 necklaces. None of them took very long to make.

I originally had my initial on this but then I changed my mind. Plus the butterfly is on the other side but I didn't have it laid out right when I took this pic.I'm not normally a pearl person but I wanted to mix this up & liked how this looked. You know what I like about both of those necklaces? How they look when I layered them TOGETHER! Even the centers of the pendants are all matchy-matchy!This one was very simple. I'm not really into tourquoise but once I paired it with this piece I liked it. I might change it up a bit but for now I like it simple. This is a total lift of Laura's. I really liked the green in this & when I spotted it at AC Moore I knew I'd be making it.
I can see myself making a few more pieces....even bought a few different things at Michael's the other day.....but that's another post! ;)
