July 365

July started to be a very busy month.  Just when I thought I'd never catch a break we started seeing a few free much needed days.  Hard to believe the summer is almost over.  Which also makes me realize more than half the year is over!

I am happy to say that I am still plugging along with my Project Life album.  I'm done with May & just have two months to catch up.  I feel like it's a possibility.  I can do it. This photo app helps me keep track of all my pics since I primarily use my iPhone for my Project Life album.  I even print out this screen shot & include it when I can in my album.  Hope to share those soon....

A Bronx (Zoo) Tale

After mentioning for awhile how I'd like to take a family trip to the Bronx Zoo we took a ride today.  We left later than we should & encountered traffic heading into the city (what else is new), so we didn't get there until 2-ish.  This was our first trip there for the girls & I.  I like to compare it to the Animal Kingdom at Disney World, just not as magical. ;)

Our first stop was in the World of Birds.  Where we saw...birds!  Lots & lots of birds.

This little guy is a Golden Headed Quetzal from South America.  Very pretty colors.  Pretty bird.

These parrots are probably my favorite.  The girls said they look like the birds from the movie Rio

Joe & I called these the "tooki-tooki" birds...we've watched "George of the Jungle" a few too many times.

The girls look thrilled with me taking their pics, don't they?

We saw some other animals on our way to the Tiger habitat, but I'm not going to bore anyone.  Here the girls look a little happier.

A tiger could easily make a snack out of Gianna.

Yes, Marissa really is 5' tall....I feed her lots of fertilizer.

One of my all time favorite animals.....

Looks like he's laughing at us.

I sort of love this pic.

This is a Fossa.  I was intrigued by it's sleekness.  He looks a lot like a cat but bigger.  It's mate(?) was sprinting around the enclosure looking like a mad man.

We briefly saw the sea lions, which were Gianna's favorite part of the zoo.

The peacocks were just roaming around, not afraid of the people at all.

Another shot of the sea lions.  They were very playful & funny.

The lemurs were cool to look at too.  There were so many varieties of them too, but the girls liked these since they were from the Madagascar movies.

Through part of the zoo there were animals made of Lego's (Lego Safari).  Very cool.

I would've liked to have stayed longer but the zoo closed at 5:30.  You really could spend a full day there easily....which just means we have to go back! ;)

Mother/Daughter Scrap Time

Today after running errands, the girls & I somehow found ourselves hanging out in my scraproom.  Marissa has been playing around with some ideas of a LO.  She wanted to scrap with me & I was not going to refuse her.

She found a sketch she wanted to follow from one of my books (Designing with Recipes) & pulled out papers she wanted to play with.

She asked some questions here & there.
Moved things around.
And HAD FUN!

I don't want to speak too soon, but I think she may have been bitten by the scrapping bug.  I would be more than happy to share it with her.  I don't "make" my girls scrap, but I might suggest it when they tell me how "bored" they are.  When the time comes I'm ready.  Marissa already thinks that is "her" seat.  She often sits there & questions me on the various bottles, jars & goodies that are on the shelf next to her. (Yes that's a peek into my room.  Post to come soon!!)

Here is her finished LO.  I helped her with a few things, like the Silhouette cuts.  My favorite part is that she journaled it by hand.  I told her one day she will love seeing her handwriting.

She already has ideas for another LO.  I told her, if she keeps at it I will give her her own album to keep her LO's in (instead of adding them to the albums I have for her).  I think she's got true potential!

12 on 12 July

This month's 12 on 12 was hard for me.  It was just a normal day with some errands, so I found it hard to think of what to take pics of...but I managed.

This is the LAST pile of Disney pics for my Project Life album that needs to be done.  It's taken me forever to get thru this week since there were SO many pics!  Hopefully once I get past this I can catch up!

The weather is finally cooling off, it's been so hot lately.  I really wouldn't mind a rain day or two.

Time for our 6month check ups at the dentist.  Gianna went first.  The Doctor found her first cavity. :(

Marissa was next.  She did great!  Sadly I was last to go.  I dread going to the dentist more than any other doctor--even the "lady doctor"!!

Afterwards I decided to go to Pier One to see if I could find a small cute tabletop clock for my scrap room.  Didn't find a clock but I got some great shots...and that makes me happy!  I think the girls liked posing for this as much as I did!  I also think Gianna looks SO much like me in this one....

These cookie jars are cute, but I managed to pass on bringing them home.

This little guy was a bank...I thought about bringing him home with me but talked myself out of it.  Seriously regretting it now & want to go back & get him!

The mask of Gigi! I think she tried on every mask she could get her hands on...and wanted pics taken of them all!

Magnificent M!  She had fun trying on the masks too, but in a more "sophisticated", reserved way.

I spotted these fun sticky notes & thought I could use them for Project Life.  They're sarcastic, unlike me. HA!  The earrings caught my eye, but I as much as I tried resisting, I bought them.  I'm glad I did, since I would've regretted it...like the owl.

Whenever I go to the dentist, I come home with the worst headache (my dentist is not the gentlest when cleaning my teeth), so I opted for delivery.  No cooking for me tonight.

I did feel better afterwards & at Joe's request gave him a much needed haircut.  He wouldn't let me take his pic, so I'm making do with my tools of the trade.
